JOB OPPORTUNITY NOTICE

 

POSITION TITLE:

District Sales Manager
Southwest Region based in the Houston area;
territory includes Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Texas.

DEPARTMENT:

Outside Sales

REPORTS DIRECTLY TO:

Regional Sales Manager

FUNCTION:

Responsible for customer relationship development, sales, and services in a specified geographic area or district.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Generates and follows up on leads; aggressively pursues potential inquiries and orders; markets Company products and services; and contacts prospective, new, and current customers in person to ascertain and quote on the need for the Company products and services.
  2. Responsible for developing positive working relationships with customers, Inside Sales, and management.
  3. Develops new and targeted accounts and maintains desired daily sales call average.
  4. Responsible for completing daily call reports; weekly updates; and daily, weekly, and monthly scheduling plans.
  5. Responds to complaints and suggestions relative to Company products and services by referring situation to appropriate Company personnel and advising customer as to final disposition.
  6. Attends and participates in meetings, seminars, trade shows, and civic events.
  7. Provides sales management with information needed to develop and evaluate sales forecasts.
  8. Makes suggestions regarding improvements or changes to promotion and advertising programs.
  9. Performs additional duties and responsibilities as requested.

Knowlwdge, Skills and Abilities:

  1. Associate’s degree or equivalent experience.
  2. Minimum of five years of related experience required.
  3. Must be an effective listener with excellent interpersonal skills.  Ability to effectively interface with all levels of customer representatives. 
  4. Must maintain a neat, well-groomed, professional appearance and demeanor.
  5. Must be able and willing to regularly travel with overnight stays of up to five consecutive nights; typically 8 – 10 overnight away-from-home stays per month.
  6. Ability and willingness to be a team player who is receptive to coaching and constructive feedback.
  7. Excellent planning and organization skills required.
  8. High degree of integrity and initiative required (a “self-starter”).  Ability to work alone with frequent communications with the Regional Sales Manager required.
  9. Good working knowledge of Company’s products and services and the stainless steel and nickel alloy markets preferred.
  10. Knowledge of customers and their products helpful for new hire, essential for long-term successful job performance.
  11. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.  Experience in SalesLogix preferred.
