Sandmeyer Steel Company Adds SSC INVAR 36 (UNS K93603), A Nickel-Iron Dimensional Stable Alloy for Use In Aerospace Composite Tooling and Dies

Philadelphia, PA – July 29, 2010

Sandmeyer Steel Company has added SSC INVAR 36 (UNS K93603, W. Nr. 1.3912) to its extensive line of stainless steel and nickel alloy plate and plate products. SSC INVAR 36 is an austenitic nickel-iron alloy with an extremely low coefficient of thermal expansion from cryogenic temperatures through 400°F (200°C). The alloy is utilized extensively in applications requiring precise dimensional stability. Major markets for SSC INVAR 36 plate include tools and dies for aerospace composite materials; cryogenic components and piping; liquefied natural gas production, storage and transportation; and laser components.

Sandmeyer Steel Company is stocking SSC INVAR 36 in plate thicknesses from .250" (6.3mm) through 4.00" (101.6mm). The Company stocks a large inventory of nickel alloy grades and a complete line of stainless steel plate. With over 16 million pounds in stock, the Company maintains the largest single-site inventory of stainless steel and nickel alloy plate and plate products in North America. Sandmeyer Steel Company has over 100 pieces of in-house value added plate processing equipment to supply customers with any size or configuration of specialty plate they require.

"The addition of SSC INVAR 36 will enable us to expand our product offerings for full and cut plate and plate products to the aerospace composite tooling market," said Ronald P. Sandmeyer, Jr., President and Chief Executive Officer. "We believe our focus on customer service and our ability to provide a quick delivery of custom-cut sizes will be appreciated by customers in the tooling market."

Sandmeyer Steel Company was founded in 1952 by the late Paul C. Sandmeyer. Family owned and managed for three generations, the Company is recognized as a leading producer of stainless steel and nickel alloy plate products used in the chemical and other process equipment markets. The Company services customers throughout the world.
