Sandmeyer Steel Company Obtains Section III Quality System Certificate For Nuclear Material Organizations From ASME

Will enable the Company to supply stainless steel and nickel alloy plate and plate products to the commercial nuclear power market

Philadelphia, PA – October 12, 2010

Sandmeyer Steel Company has been awarded a Quality System Certificate for Nuclear Material Organizations (MO) from the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) under Section III, Subsection NCA-3800, of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code.

This certification will enable Sandmeyer to supply stainless steel and nickel alloy plate and plate products to the commercial nuclear power marketplace for both new construction and maintenance and repair applications.

Nuclear fabricators and OEMs will now be able to access North America's largest inventory of stainless steel and nickel alloy plate (over 16 million pounds). Sandmeyer's in-house value added plate processing capabilities are second to none. With over 100 pieces of equipment, Sandmeyer will be able to supply the nuclear industry with the most complete range of specialty plate products.

"This is a very significant accomplishment for our Company," said Ronald P. Sandmeyer, Jr., President and CEO. "We expect that the nuclear market is going to be a growing market for the use of stainless steel and nickel alloy plate and plate products. With this issuance of a QSC to our Company, we are now well positioned to service that growing market."

Sandmeyer Steel Company was founded in 1952 by the late Paul C. Sandmeyer. Family owned and managed, the Company is recognized as a leading producer of stainless steel and nickel alloy plate products used in capital equipment for chemical and other process industries. The Company services customers throughout the world.
