SANDMEYER STEEL COMPANY HIRES NEW WESTERN REGIONAL DISTRICT SALES MANAGER

Philadelphia, PA – September 12, 2002 --

Sandmeyer Steel Company is pleased to announce that Kristen I. Hasche has joined the Company as District Sales Manager of their Western Territory.

Hasche brings to Sandmeyer Steel Company significant sales experience, both inside and outside, with North Star Steel Company and most recently with L. B. Foster Company. Kristen is replacing
Shawn F. Fenerty, who recently accepted the position of District Sales Manager of Sandmeyer's Midatlantic East Territory.

Kristen, who will be based in the San Francisco Bay area, is a native of northern Iowa and a graduate of Augustana College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
