Sandmeyer Steel Company was founded in 1952 by the late Paul C. Sandmeyer. We have been family owned and operated since our inception.

Stainless Steel and Nickel Alloy Plate Products
Stocking the largest and most extensive single-site stainless plate inventory in North America, we are the industry heavyweight. With over 15 million pounds of stainless and nickel alloy plate available, covering 24 grades and 35 thicknesses, we can satisfy your most demanding and hard-to-find requirements.

Stainless Steel Plate
Sandmeyer Steel Company stocks over 15 million pounds of stainless steel plate, including a full line of the 300 series austenitic stainless steel plate, which includes high heat-resistant stainless steels; 410 martensitic stainless steel plate; duplex stainless steel plate, which includes "super" duplex grades; and 17-4PH precipitation hardening stainless steel plate.

Nickel Alloy Plate
Sandmeyer Steel Company's extensive inventory of nickel alloy plate is available to meet applications that require exceptional strength (even at high temperatures) and excellent resistance to severely corrosive environments.

Stainless Steel Round Bar
Sandmeyer Steel Company can also provide a complete line of stainless steel round bar in diameters 3/8” thru 7”, including PRODEC® quality bar.

Plasma Cutting
Our computer controlled underwater plasma cutting equipment provides one of the most efficient and least costly cutting methods available.

Plasma Beveling
Plasma beveling enables us to cut your parts to size and bevel the edges in one step. This cuts your manufacturing costs by eliminating or reducing downstream processing.

Abrasive Waterjet Cutting
Unlike other cutting processes, Sandmeyer's abrasive waterjet cutting assures you of receiving a consistent superior edge quality with no heat-affected zone. So don't compromise. Machincut Rings and Discs
Our "speciality of the house." Machined finishes are available at virtually the same cost as plasma cutting.

Bandsaw Cutting
Bandsaw cutting provides a better edge quality than plasma cutting, with no heat-affected zone on the edges.

Contour Saw Cutting
Sandmeyer Steel's contour machincut process is ideally suited to cutting irregular shapes in heavy plate up to 6-1/2" thick or more.

Friction Saw Cutting
Sandmeyer Steel's friction saw cutting cutting gives a good square edge with no burr.

Drilling, Tapping and Counterboring
Our proprietary research and development in drilling technology, combined with our state-of-the-art automatic indexing drilling equipment, result in a very low cost per drilled hole. Standard bolt-hole patterns can be drilled and shipped in the same turnaround time as machined ring or disc blanks. We also can provide thread tapping and additional counterboring when required.

Milling
Need a special edge finished with close tolerances on rectangular plate? Sandmeyer can do this on our special heavy-duty milling machines. Need the same edge finishes on shapes and configurations? Sandmeyer can do contour milling on our sophisticated three axis, double column, vertical machining center. Edge beveling is also available.

Polishing
At Sandmeyer Steel, we're highly experienced in polishing stainless and nickel alloy plate and can provide a standard #4 finish or a 5 RMS maximum when requested. This can be done on all shapes.

Flattening
Commercial mill flatness tolerances for stainless steel plate and nickel alloy plate don't meet the requirements of most customers today. At Sandmeyer, we do much better. Nearly every plate product we ship is individually flattened prior to shipping -- at no additional cost to you.

Rolled & Welded Rings
Sandmeyer's rolling and welding processes economically give you the large diameter rings you need by eliminating the yield loss of standard plate rings. We can abrasive cut stainless bars and roll them into easy-way or hard-way rings, within full ASME compliance, including code welding and x-ray.

Technical Information
The first and most important step toward successful use of a stainless steel or nickel alloy is selection of the proper type for the application. Stainless steel plates and nickel alloy plates include a large number of standard types, but these types differ greatly from one another in composition, corrosion resistance, physical properties, and mechanical properties, and the selection of the optimum type for a specific application is the key to satisfactory performance at a minimum total cost.
