Nickel Alloy Plate
Alloy C276 Nickel Alloy Plate: Chemical Processing
Chemical processing is a method of changing one or more chemicals or compounds using chemical reactions into another. Chemical processing utilizes equipment such as heat exchangers, pressure vessels, tanks, evaporators, piping, flanges and fittings, pumps, and valves. Due to the harsh operating conditions often found in and solutions used in the chemical processing industry, a high performance nickel alloy, such as C276 (c-276), that possesses superior corrosion-resistant properties, may be required. Sulfuric, acetic, phosphoric, formic, nitric, and hydrochloric acids, as well as hydrofluoric compounds, can be found in chemical processing environments and, nickel alloy C276 (c-276) displays excellent resistance to these substances. C276 (c-276) alloy also resists the formation of grain-boundary precipitates in the weld heat affected zone, making it suitable for the fabrication of chemical process equipment.
C276 Nickel Alloy Properties
Nickel alloy C276 (c-276) plate, pipe and sheet materials display exceptional resistance to oxidizing agents commonly found in chemical processing. Nickel alloy C276 (c-276) is resistant to corrosion by ferric and cupric chlorides, hot contaminated mineral acids, acetic anhydride, sea water, and brine solutions. This alloy is also known to resist the corrosive effects of wet chlorine gas, hypochlorite, and chlorine dioxide solutions. Nickel alloy C276 (c-276) can operate in oxidizing atmospheres up to 1900°F while resisting crevice corrosion, cracking, pitting, and general corrosion. This alloy is the perfect material for use in heat exchangers, reaction vessels, evaporators, and transfer piping because of its structural integrity under harsh chemical processing conditions and temperatures that cause pitting and stress corrosion cracking. C276 (c-276) can be easily welded and processed utilizing standard shop fabrication processes. Additionally, C276 (c-276) plate can be hot and cold formed. It can be readily welded by most standard processes and a post-weld heat treatment is not necessary. Alloy C276 (c-276) can be machined in the annealed condition and cannot be hardened by heat treatment, but can be hardened by cold working. It is one of the most universally corrosion-resistant materials available. For more information on this corrosion resistant nickel alloy plate, click C276 properties.
