Steel Production
Sandmeyer Steel Company’s stainless steel and nickel alloy plate products can be found throughout the steel production process. They are used for their corrosion, heat, and wear resistance along with their strength.
Stainless grades 304L/304, 309S/309H/309, 310S/310H/310, 316L/316, 321H/321, and 410, along with nickel alloy 330, are used in the construction of coke ovens, blast furnaces, basic oxygen furnaces, and continuous casters.
Alloys 304L/304 and 410 are often found in mill cranes along with hydraulic systems. Mill rolls sometimes require 17-4PH.
For high temperature service, 309S/309H/309 and 310S/310H/310, along with nickel alloys 330 and 800H/800HT are selected for the fabrication of reheat furnaces, direct reduction iron-making, and high-temperature fans.
When corrosion resistance is required for acid pickle applications, including pickling tanks, crates, baskets, and hooks, nickel alloy 825 is the material of choice.
